Narrative
I am currently working on my dissertation in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Minnesota. My dissertation is entitled “Subjetividades Nômades: o topos da viagem em João Gilberto Noll, Bernardo Carvalho and Silviano Santiago”. My dissertation analyzes how João Gilberto Noll (1946 - ), Bernardo Carvalho (1960 - ) and Silviano Santiago (1936 - ) question essentialized and authoritarian positions of sexuality and national identity. As a future scholar and teacher in the field of Brazilian and Lusophone Studies, I am concerned with the socio-historical, cultural, and political processes at the root of Portuguese-speaking cultures worldwide. I am interested in the variety of artistic and cultural expressions in Brazil as well as in Portugal and Lusophone Africa. During my time here at the University of Minnesota I’ve had the privilege to design and teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in language and culture. This experience has been a great opportunity for personal and intellectual growth.
