Narrative

I returned to the academic world in 2009 after working 10 years for IPS-Inter Press Service as a translator, web editor and editor-at-large (ipsnews.net). I lived in Montevideo, Uruguay, for most of that time, where the IPS Latin American bureau is located, and telecommuted the last few years from Minnesota. My academic studies focused on Spanish Language and Literatures as well as Political Science at the University of Minnesota and at universities in Spain and Uruguay. In 1999 I completed a certificate in Spanish translation studies at the University of California, San Diego. In addition to working for IPS, I freelanced as a translator, copyeditor and proofreader, including work on screenplays, academic papers, bilingual editions of poetry and fiction. During my years in Montevideo I was part of a literary workshop, writing fiction in Spanish.
