Narrative
Piyali, Hola, Hello: I am grateful to be a member of a department that encourages and supports interdisciplinary research, and I am honored by the generous mentorship of my adviser Nicholas Spadaccini. I am presently writing my dissertation in which I analyze indigenous experience in Mexico through an exploration of texts in the Nahua intellectual tradition spanning the Colonial period through the present. I am concerned with how research can affect the intellectual health of the populations being theorized. As such, I emphasize methods that include Indigenous critical approaches and collaboration. I plan to defend my thesis in May of 2010.
